INTRODUCING WORDS IN MOTION: BABY SIGN LANGUAGE CLASS!

Join us at Comfort Speech Therapy for Words in Motion, a playful and engaging baby sign language class where your little one will learn new signs to communicate their needs and thoughts. Led by experienced Speech-Language Pathologist Ashley Kurth, this class is designed to help babies and toddlers bridge the gap between their desires and words, using both signing and speaking. Ashley will use her clinical expertise and knowledge to utilize and teach early language strategies with your little one...a pivotal benefit of this class being led by an expert! You will learn 35+ signs from a curated list derived from common first 50 word research.

Each session, we'll introduce new signs, say the words aloud, and bring them to life through fun activities and interactive play. You will go home with handouts and new strategies each week! It's the perfect opportunity for your child to develop early communication skills in a supportive and joyful environment. Enroll today and watch your baby’s words come to life with Words in Motion at Comfort Speech Therapy!

A MAJOR STUDY BY THE National Institutes of Health (NIH)

compared two groups of 11-month-old infants: one group was taught baby sign language, while the other received verbal training. The babies who learned sign language developed superior verbal skills compared to those who only had verbal training. By the time the children were two years old, the sign language group was already ahead in verbal abilities, and although this advantage seemed to diminish slightly after two years, the signers remained ahead at age three.

When the researchers followed up with the children at age eight, they found that the difference persisted. The sign language users had IQs that were 12 points higher than those of the non-signers, despite having stopped using sign language long ago.
